![]() Such events are not provided by the classical model with four events. ![]() ![]() In particular, this model takes into account the presence of events, when a positive signal is presented, but it is identified as a negative one and vice versa. Thus, the proposed model has nine possible events. The test subject responds, which signal he or she detects: negative, zero or positive one. In other words, the test subject is presented with a differential signal, which can be negative, zero or positive. The test subject must answer the question: whether he or she discerns the difference between the stimuli and, if so, which stimulus is “more intense”. The differential signal in the proposed model is represented by a differential stimulus, which is two single stimuli presented sequentially or simultaneously. In this work, we propose a psychophysical model of the signal detection theory with nine events (PMSDT9) for the quantitative description of the sensory detection task solution for a sign-alternating differential signal. This limitation leads to restriction of the scope of its application. This model has four events and is intended to a quantitative description of sensory tasks solution for detecting the presence of a signal, but not its sign. Classic works of Weber, Fechner, Stevens, and also a psychophysical model of the signal detection theory are devoted to solving this task. The main task of psychophysics is the study of the regularities linking the objective world of stimuli with subjective intensity of the sensations caused by them.
